Appalachian Service Project (ASP)
Appalachian Service Project is a home repair ministry through which volunteers (youth and their chaperones) repair homes for low-income families in rural Central Appalachia. The goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier, while offering transformational experiences for volunteers and families alike.
Each year, ASP achieves its goals with the assistance of nearly 15,000 volunteers. The Home Repair Ministries Summer Program is especially valuable for high school youth groups and their adult advisors; and ASP also offers year-round service opportunities for college groups, family groups, individuals, and couples.
Every other year, the Youth at Concord UMC work throughout the year to earn money to go to different states where they work on homes for lower income families. Some of these projects involve painting, ditch digging, home repairs, etc. Fundraisers include: cookie jar sales, yard mowing, spring rummage sale, and more. No matter what your skill level, we invite you to come experience Appalachian Service Project for yourself!
